I am trying to work out the font for this poster, i have googled fonts from 1938, but my most successful was looking for fonts between 1930 to 1940, and it came up with Futura.
Futura was created in 1927 by Paul Renner for the bauhaus type foundry.
You can see that the weighting is very similar, as well as the narrowed stroke which corresponds well with the weight for the posters.
